Hey, I’m Safiyyah and this is What’s Happening Belize?

Tonight Saint Catherine Academy will be having their October fest, held on the school campus. The fun runs from six p.m. until midnight. There will be fun games and great food and a super hype dance to top the night off. There will also be a haunted house for you to enjoy. So pass by the S.C.A. campus tonight and check it out.

This Saturday night, as a part of the celebration of the nineteenth of November, the Miss Garifuna Belize City pageant will be held. The competition starts at seven p.m. inside the Bliss Institute of creative arts. The pageant features seven diverse and cultured young ladies. The theme for this year’s Garifuna Settlement Day is “continuing to proudly empower our children in their Garifuna heritage.” Tickets to the pageant are fifteen dollars general and twenty dollars reserved.

On Sunday there will be a Karate tournament inside the Belize City Center beginning at nine a.m. and continuing throughout the day until four p.m. This tournament has been taking place every year at the adult level since 1993 and at the junior level since 2003. Teams will be competing from all over Belize and even Chetumal and Guatemala. So everyone is invited to come out and view the skilled karate combat, this Sunday. The cost is only six dollars for adults and three dollars for kids.

Also this Sunday the organization, Fathers Against Abuse and Sexual Exploitation of Children will be having a motorcade through the principal streets of Belize City. The motorcade was organized in order to bring awareness to child abuse. They are inviting anyone who would like to participate to bring out their vehicles with banners about violence against children. The motorcade will begin at the Constitution Park on cemetery road. It moves off at two p.m.

And I just want to remind you that tomorrow night the Belmopan Rotoract will be having their Halloween party inside the George Price Center from four to eight for kids and from nine until for adults. The night will feature a haunted house, food and drink, and music by J.K.A. Sounds. Costumes are optional. Proceeds will go towards several projects including relief for flood victims.

“The first thing we did was prepare the patties. We try to use the best quality stuff and be consistent so we weigh each one individually then we put our burgers on the grill and also jerk chicken which is marinated. We did chicharon de pollo with the green plantain, and we did the stuffed jalapenos deep fried.”

“How long have you been in operation?”

“since 1997, about eleven years.’

“Okay, and about how many people you would say come in and out of your store?”

“You mean in that eleven years?”

“On a day-to-day basis”

“We don’t have that much. We have consistent people coming back. I would say about maybe between twenty-five and fifty.”

“What would you say is the secret behind you burger why it’s the best?”

“I can’t give you the recipe of course. It’s trying to use the best stuff and being consistent in whatever you do because if you are changing it differently everyday and the same people come back well, someone else is cooking, someone else is doing this for you, then it doesn’t taste the same. So I just say whenever they come here they’ll know they’ll have the same flavour that they had when they came yesterday or last week or a month ago. So being consistent and just trying to give them their monies work and that’s it. I just have to thank everybody who texted in for me. I really appreciate it; my family and especially from Cayo. Every time they come down they try to support me, friends. I really appreciate them.”
