Two appear in court for contraband liquor

Story PictureThey were caught with ten cases of contraband liquor and for that they could end up paying close to thirty thousand dollars in fines. The two men, twenty-two year old Wilbert Olivarez and twenty-one year old Alpheus Henry Jr. were charged today with the crime of having uncustomed goods. The men were busted with the liquor on Thursday when police spotted a purple blazer just before midnight at mile seven and a half on the western highway and set chase behind the vehicle. They eventually caught up with the blazer in Belama Phase two near Chetumal Street. Police ordered the vehicle to stop and the occupants, Henry and Olivarez, were told to exit. It was then that police searched their vehicle and recovered five cases of tequila, three cases of baileys and two cases of Tanqueray gin. The approximate value of the alcohol is eight thousand nine hundred dollars. If convicted, they will have to pay three times that amount which is just about twenty seven thousand dollars. Both men pleaded not guilty in court and were offered bail of two thousand nine hundred dollars and the case was adjourned until December twenty-third.
