Three women charged for Dutch cheese theft

Three women appeared in court this morning and were promptly charged with Theft and while the charge is common, in this case the price and appetite for the item may have been the motive. The trio, all cousins who reside in Carmelita Village in Orange Walk Town, is accused of stealing six units of Dutch cheese from Tow Tow Store on Mahogany Street this past Wednesday. Twenty-six year old Diana Garcia, twenty-five year Olga Baldomino and twenty-eight year old Maria Gonzalez pleaded not guilty to the offense. A fourth partner in crime, a man who waited in a van nearby, was charged with Abetment to Theft. He is thirty-two year old Winfield Hamsley who similarly pleaded not guilty. The four were offered bail of one thousand dollars and are to appear in court again, on December seventeenth. The owner of Tow Tow Grocery, Wei Dong Lai, told police that he saw the women leaving his store with swelling pockets and heading to the van that was parked just outside the store. After Lai called the cops, he went to the van and prevented them from leaving. When the police arrived and searched the van, they found the prized cheese.
