Ex income tax clerk faces charge of theft of G.O.B. funds

Story PictureA former clerk of the Income Tax Department is in plenty trouble tonight following charges brought against her for Theft of government funds. Twenty-six year old Natasha Kingston of Police Street pleaded not guilty before Chief Magistrate Margaret Gabb today. While the prosecution objected to bail on grounds that Kingston is a flight risk and that she might interfere with witnesses, Chief Magistrate Gabb did not consider them sufficient enough to deny bail. As a result, Kingston is now out on a three thousand dollar bond and was ordered to return to court on December seventeenth. On the first of three counts, Kingston allegedly stole just over two thousand six hundred dollars between December nineteenth 2007 and January fifteenth of this year. On the second count she allegedly stole another two thousand eight hundred and fifty-nine dollars between October eighteenth 2007 and November fifteenth, 2007. On the third count she allegedly took a thousand and fifty-nine dollars between January sixteenth 2008 and February first, 2008. On August sixth of this year, police were summoned to the Income Tax Department by Commissioner, Eric Eusey, to investigate the irregularities. They discovered that the missing monies were never entered into the Department’s system.
