Classes in southern Belize postponed
And as the tropical depression sits on Honduras and residents prepare school schedules are being affected. So will there be classes on Thursday? That is the question that students all over the country have been asking their teachers since the announcement of tropical depression number sixteen. Well, the answer is yes and no; depending on the area of the country. After consultations with the District Emergency Management Organization (DEMO), the Ministry of Education closed schools from midday today in the Stann Creek District. Schools in the Toledo District are slated to close on Thursday and Friday. The school closures were allowed because of the possibility that roads will be cut off due to flooding and the southern districts needed time to prepare for the upcoming tropical depression and evacuation if necessary. In respect of schools in Belize, Cayo, Orange Walk and Corozal districts, a decision is pending.
