Amateur video captures neighbours helping gunshot victim
Since this morning Jason Cain, a gunshot victim, has been in the post anesthetic and recovery ward at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital after undergoing surgery. He was shot to his chest, arm and leg on Tuesday night in front of his home on Cairo Street. A witness to the shooting told News Five today that they saw four suspicious-looking young men on bicycles in the area about a minute before the shooting occurred. Police have detained two persons, a twenty five year old resident of Mahogany Street and a sixteen year old minor. Police believe the shooting was committed by gang members from a nearby community. Cain had reportedly just gone to his car when someone opened fire on him. Police had recovered nine expended shells from the scene. News Five has obtained this amateur video, which was captured moments after the shooting occurred as friends and neighbours helped Cain out of his taxi and into a pick-up. By that time he had already slouched over and appeared to be unconscious. Tuesday night, a man who also assisted Cain, told us off-camera that he heard the shots that left his next door neighbour critically wounded. Before Cain lost consciousness he told his neighbor that it was a guy on a bicycle who rode up and shot him.
