San Pedro police make arrest in stabbing murder
San Pedro police have caught up with thirty-seven year old Alvaro Gregorio, who was on the run since the stabbing death of Salvadoran Roberto Jimenez of the San Mateo area of the island shortly after midday on Wednesday. Gregorio was nabbed in a police manhunt around ten this morning in an abandoned house about two miles north of San Pedro Town. Reports are that a jealous Gregorio dodged his victim as he went for lunch at the home of Gregorio’s ex-common-law wife, thirty-six year old Aura Molina. Jimenez died of the injuries on the spot. Police say Gregorio warned Jimenez that he did not want him around his ex-wife and then inflicted the fatal stab wounds to his chest and abdomen. Gregorio is expected to appear in court tomorrow to face charges for Jimenez’s death. The incident reportedly happened in front of Molina, who also had to run for her life.
And in the west, police are following leads in the stabbing of a woman in San Ignacio. The incident happened around nine on Wednesday morning in front of Lea’s Furniture on Tenth Street. Thirty-six year old Nelida Guerra told police that she was walking when a man she did not recognize approached her, stabbed her and fled. Guerra is in stable condition at the San Ignacio Hospital.
