Safiyyah’s weekly entertainment column aims to please
It’s that time of the week where families, friends and everyone around the country are looking for entertainment for the weekend. Safiyyah has scoured the internet, checked with all her sources, and kept her ear to the ground all in order to find the right variety to suit your palate. Whether you’re looking for a restaurant, a hotel, or even a nightclub, you’ll find it right here with Safiyyah on this week’s edition of What’s Happening Belize.
Hey I’m Safiyyah and this is What’s Happening Belize?
In celebration of today being Friday 13th there will be two night spots that you can hit up tonight that will be doing things all Black style. The first is inside the Renaissance tower lounge where there will be another edition of the Karaoke Revolution. This party will be an all Black affair, where everyone that enters wearing black will get a free shot.
The second all Black party will be taking place inside Palm Island. This party is a special edition of French Kiss called Blackout. This party will not only have Tagg International and Belizean Movements but also DJ Money D out of Miami.
And inside Club Next you can check out their Stress Free party Ole Skool style. This bash has been titled ‘Time Warp.” Ladies enter free before Midnight and all drinks will be half priced. There will also be a balloon drop so you might definitely want to check that out.
Another spot kicking off tonight is the grand re-opening of the View. The View has moved to a new location. They are now located on 148 Newton Barracks near the sea side. There will be samples of food and drinks so check it out.
Tonight you can head over to the Bliss and check out the Jazz concert of Kellie Cadogan. This will be taking place inside the Bliss Center for the Performing Arts. It will begin at 8pm.
Also on Saturday night, here in the city you can check out another fundraiser for the Mahogany Masqueraders. This time they will be having a variety show followed by a dance. This will all be going down on 8400 McKay Avenue. All the proceeds will be going towards the carnival group’s preparation for the Road March.
Down south you can check out club Llagulei, where they will be having a party call Summer Swagga. This will feature the music of Crown Heights and Yard core Movements. The first 15 Ladies will get a free drink.
On Sunday night if you’re in a Party mood you can head over to D’Eclipse Entertainment Club. They will be having the after party for the Queen of the Bay Belmopan Pageant. This party is called Teen Jerk. Music will be provided by Tagg International.
Also on Sunday the Tribute to Luck Dube will be held on the MCC tennis court. This will not only be held as a tribute to the late great musician but also as a canned food drive to help the less fortunate. So when you go out there, you are asked to take out an item to donate. There will be performances by local Belizean artist including Mr. Program. The festivities begin at 4pm.
That’s all I have for now. Have a great weekend. Bye.
