Two women charged with theft of Dutch Cheese
Two women appeared in Court today and were charged with the theft of a ball of Dutch cheese. The two, forty-seven year old Claudette Bennett and fifty year old Juana Bermudez, both pleaded not guilty to the charge before Magistrate Robert Ordonez who offered bail of two thousand five hundred dollars each. Thirty-eight year old Zhi Wei Zhou, the owner of Williams Supermarket located in the King’s Park area told police that his security guard had noted two suspicious looking women in the supermarket last Friday. They were spotted on video stealing the cheese from the shelves. According to the guard, one of the women took the cheese from the shelf and acted as a decoy while the other hid the red back in her person. When they were searched, the cheese was found on one of them. The alert security guard recognized the women from an earlier shoplifting incident about a year ago. The duo is to re-appear in court on November eleventh.
