Fisherman attacked and hospitalized
Alvin Andrews, a fisherman of Belize City, was found lying on Wilson Street with several cut wounds to his face and body last Sunday morning, but the report did not make the police blotter until today. Residence in the area called for the Belize Emergency Response Team and Andrews was picked up and taken to the KHMH, where police found him three days later. But according to Police Press Officer, Fitzroy Yearwood, information is not forthcoming about who attacked Andrews or why.
Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood, Police
“We haven’t made any arrests in that case as yet. I’m sure that you know that this person was transported to the KHMH by BERT ambulance. Then the hospital authorities informed the police that he was there. When the investigators did visit the hospital they saw him in the described state. So far we haven’t had any leads into this case but like I said if any member of the public knows anything about Mr. Andrews’ attack, please come forward and help us.”

“What’s his condition?”
Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood
“He is awake—in an out of consciousness so I shouldn’t say awake But I know that he is still in critical but stable condition.”

“Did the neighbours in the area hear anything at all?”
Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood
“I’m not sure Marion. Like I said, the investigators went to the hospital. They have canvassed the area so far but no witnesses are forthcoming.”
