Cadbury chocolates safe in Belize
If you have been following the international news, you would know that there is a recall of Cadbury chocolates. The news reports say the recall is linked to the melamine tainted milk powder being sold in China. But there is no need to panic, it does not affect Belize. The main distributors of the chocolates in Belize, James Brodie Limited, through its Cadbury agent issued a release saying that the recall only applies to Cadbury products manufactured in the Beijing plant and are solely exported to Taiwan, Hong Kong and one product only to Australia. The Belize market is not included in the withdrawal and the chocolates remain on the shelves of supermarkets and other stores.
Last week there were widespread reports that melamine had been used in China to trick milk product protein testers after watering down the milk products. Melamine is a chemical used in plastics and fertilizer production and is dangerous to humans. It is known to cause death, kidney stones, and other ailments.
