Four bandits jack BWEL depot
Violence and crime – they are regulars in this newscast and today is no different. And at around three thirty this afternoon, Belize Western Energy Limited (BWEL) was hit by four brazen bandits. But it wasn’t the headquarters on Central American Boulevard, but the depot at the end of Sarstoon Street that was hit by four men in a white van. Only two employees were at the location along with a security guard of Security Oriented Service when the robbery occurred. Employee Minette Herbert opened the door of the depot’s office after another employee Ignacio Reyes, was hit in the head by the robbers, he told News Five it happened very quickly.

“Well, at my place of work and I am on the line of duty and di man dehn just show up there about three-thirty. A van just pull up; a white van with tinted glass just pull up and three, four men jump out; three with guns and one with a knife and dehn jump out. Di one weh come out ah di passenger side just storm and beat me in di head wid di gun and take away my gun and di radio dat I had and they drag me from behind my neck and pulled me like where di bathroom is in di area; in di facility. I was there bleeding and di man seh “we come fi one thing, di money” and one di stab di knife right deh so pan di counter. I don’t really know di guys and I never seen dem before but it seems like they were targeting the area.”

“So how did they actually end up getting in?”

“Well, the girl opened di door for them because they were serious about shooting the girl.”

“So they went in, got the money and is the girl okay?”

“Di girl, she didn’t get hurt but these guys just come and grab what was there and take off into their escape vehicle.”
It is estimated that close to eleven thousand dollars were stolen in the robbery.
