Safiyyah lets viewers know what’s happening

Mas camps are over but the September festivities are just getting started. The Sound Fest, Queen of the Bay Pageant, Carnival King and Queen showdown; that’s all packed into this weekend. And of course, there are always the after parties, which are happening in the city, the capital and La Isla Bonita. Safiyyah has it all, including a way to be a part of the carnival day bacchanal without the costumes. Here’s what’s happening Belize.

Hey I’m Safiyyah and this is what’s happening Belize, your first weekend in September Edition.

Tonight there’s a wide variety of activities that you can enjoy starting with the Francis Reneau concert taking place at the Bliss center. This annual September concert will feature Nelita Castillo, the Belize Choral Society and many more. The concert will begin at 8pm so if you’re looking for something relaxing to do you might wanna head over there.

Another musical concert you can head over tonight is the Sound Fest 2010. The original venue had to be change and it will now be held at the Birds Isle. This year’s sound fest will feature artist like Ernestine Carballo, the Youth connection Band, Lucio and the new generation band and many more.

For all you party goers, you can head over to the usual Friday night hot spots like Palm Island where they will be having ‘Not so old school’ night. Ladies can enter to this bash for free all night and there will be drink specials. Music will be provided by Tagg International and Belizean Movements.

The other hotspot in the city is Club Next. Tonight they will be having Soca Madness brought to you by Stress free nights. Ladies can enter free before11 and there will be ½ price on drinks all night. Music will be provided by DJ Motion and Federation 501 Sound.

If you’re out on the Island of San Pedro then you can check out the All White Party going down inside Jaguars called Fashion Over Style. Cloud Nine and DJ Chabo will be providing the music so might want to check that out.

During the Day on Saturday Belmopan will be having their all day park fest. They will be celebrating Belmopan’s 40th Birthday. There will be a huge festival held at the Mae Gordon Park starting at 10am. There will be lots to eat and drink as well as performances by artist like Supa G and music by Presidential Sound and others.

After the Belmopan day park fest you can head over to La Cabana where they will be having an after party. There will be two rooms or bashment to choose from; you can head over to the latin room or you can head over to the room with Cloud nine sound, your choice.

Another party going down in Belmopan is happening at the Twilight Lounge. This party title ‘3summ’ will have ladies arriving in groups of 3 entering free before midnight and well as 3 for the price of 1 on special drinks. Music will be provided by Madd Squad Belizean movements and Tagg International.

Also out west you can check out the Soca vs Dancehall Overdose happening inside Blue Angels. Ladies can drink any drink for $3 all night. Music will be provided by DJ Motion and Riddim one.

Here in the city on Saturday night SJC will be having their Presidents Alumni Association Banquet and Dance and you are invited. This night of dinner and dancing will be held at the Radisson Fort George hotel.

Also on Saturday night the prestigious Queen of the Bay Pageant will be held at the Bird’s Isle. This yearly September Pageant will begin at 7pm. It’s a part of the celebrations that most look forward to so make sure you head over and support it.

If you looking for a more high energy September even then you can head over to the carnival’s King and Queen Competition. This will be happening inside the MCC grounds. This is one of the major opportunities for the 5 Junior Bands and 4 senior bands to show off what they got. The competition is set to begin at 7. The after party will be happening at Club Next with a party called Tight Jeans or Fitted. DJ Dynasty, Dymatics sounds, selecta Orson and others will be providing the music.

If you’ve always wanted to be in carnival but don’t necessarily want to be in the costume then Karl H Menzies and Heineken is giving you that opportunity. They are having the Heineken renegade.
