Alleged rapist faces thirteen charges

Story PictureAlleged serial rapist, twenty-two year old Leroy Gomez this afternoon had thirteen charges read against him when he was escorted before Chief Magistrate, Margaret McKenzie. The offenses occurred in a period of time between August twenty-third and September fifteenth all in the areas of Lake Independence and Collet. Officer Commanding the C.I.B., Assistant Superintendent Julio Valdez told News Five that it’s likely that Gomez will be charged with additional offences.

“Mr. Gomez has been arrested and charged with three counts of Rape, one count of Attempted Rape, six counts of Robbery, two counts of Aggravated Assault and one count of Wounding. We do believe further investigations are still being conducted and further charges will be levied against Mr. Gomez for other investigations being conducted. Presently, now he has been taken to court to answer for these charges.”

“We have—you are aware that we have four reports of rape, so far he’s only been charged for three. One is still ongoing and that is being still continued in following up. So other charges will be levied against him as this other investigation is conducted. Eventually, after he always robbed the people of their personal items so based on these incidents counts of rapes aroused and because of that now, he was charged with robbery charges.”

Gomez is accused of stealing cell phones, money and a gold ring during the assaults. The Chief Magistrate upheld the prosecution’s objection for bail and Gomez was remanded to the Hattieville Prison until October twenty-eighth. The charges of Aggravated Assault and Wounding were levied against Gomez because each time he allegedly committed the crime he used a knife to restrain his victims. Gomez surrendered himself to police yesterday.
