Salvadoran national dies in traffic mishap
The weekend’s fatality came not from a gun, but from something just as deadly: a vehicle collision. The deceased has been identified as forty-one year old Jose Orellano, a Salvadoran national of Cemetery Road in Belize City. On Friday night thirty-one year old Derwayne Swift says he was driving his Mitsubishi Montero between miles two and three on the Northern Highway heading towards Ladyville. Swift says when he reached in front of Friendship Restaurant a male Hispanic person suddenly came across the highway and in the path of the vehicle. After the impact with the SUV, both of the victim’s legs were broken and he complained of pain to his entire body. Orellano was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, but died of his injuries around one a.m. on Saturday.
