Police release soldier, but B.D.F. still investigating
Last week we reported that police had picked up a B.D.F. private in connection with the grenade which was thrown at spectators on carnival day in Belize City. The private was being questioned for his possible involvement in facilitating the release of the grenade. Tonight it appears that there was not enough evidence to link that soldier to the crime and he has been released by the police. But that doesn’t mean he’s in the clear as News Five understands that the soldier, and several others, are being investigated by the Belize Defence Force. Last Tuesday police arrested and charged nineteen year old Richard Flores with thirteen counts of Attempted Murder and one count of Carrying Ammunition without a License for the grenade assault. Tonight the B.D.F. is trying to determine how the grenade, which has been linked to BATSUB, got into the hands of civilians.
