Cane farmer detained following traffic mishap

Orange Walk police have detained a cane farmer in connection with a traffic accident in which a man from that northern municipality lost his life. The mishap occurred around twelve-fifteen this morning in front of Cyber Walk Computer Place on Otro Benque Road. Police say that forty-eight year old Allan Gentle was riding a bicycle not far from his home when a red Nissan pickup travelling in the opposite direction knocked him down. Police say the driver did not stop and render aid to Gentle, who was found dead on the right side of the road. Police have since detained a twenty-two year old cane farmer, Joel Gutierrez of Mahogany Street in Orange Walk Town pending investigations.
