Cubola releases three new publications

Story PictureCubola productions is known for a long list of local publications and today the publishing company released a new series of books for social studies and literature, targeting primary and high school students. The new books released are volumes one and two of ‘The Alchemy of Words: An Anthology of Belizean Literature for Secondary Schools and Book and Workbook one for ‘Living Together: A Belizean Social Studies Course for Primary Schools. The publications are not yet a part of the government’s free text book programme and are available for sale at bookstores around the country. The new publications will also be used as a teachers guide for primary schools.

Priscilla Brown Lopez, Editor of Living Together
“Cubola Productions, the published released, saw the need to have a Social Studies series in the schools that are truly linked to our primary curriculum. And as a result, a team of writers got together to look at the primary curriculum and ensure that a textbook is developed, is written that captures those essential themes within our curriculum and also to have a workbook for students at infant one level that supports the primary curriculum. It is for the very first time we have a Social Studies Series that embraces the curriculum, workbooks with innovative activities for Infant one students and a teacher’s guide which provides background knowledge for teachers to enable them to be able to teach the concepts effectively using innovative strategies and making linkages across other areas of the curriculum.”

At the ceremony this morning at the House of Culture, educators congratulated editors, Deryck Satchwell and Priscilla Brown-Lopez. Cubola has published books such as Pataki Full, Ping Wing Juk Me, Snapshots of Belize and various social studies books, including The History and Geography of Belize and the Atlas of Belize.
