Minor identifies robber at Belikin Fest
His first job was to guard the court, but now a Belize City man has been locked up by a magistrate of the same court he once protected. Twenty-eight year old David Phillips A.K.A. “Goofy”, a former security guard of the Magistrates Court, was remanded to prison today after he was charged with Robbery. At eight a.m. on September fourth, fifteen year old Jacqueline Orteaga was walking on Orange Street when Phillips approached her, held her up with a knife and stole her cell phone. More than a week later at about eleven-thirty on the night of September thirteenth, the fifteen year old minor was at the Belikin Fest at the Memorial Park where she saw Goofy and pointed him out to the police as the person who robbed her. In court today, the prosecution objected to bail on the grounds that he was wanted for nine days by police. Magistrate Sharon Fraser upheld the objection and remanded Goofy into custody until October twenty-fourth.
