Woman is robbed and raped on Croton Lane
There appears to be a notable increase in rape cases reported throughout Belize and a pattern seems to be emerging in a Belize City neighborhood. The most recent case reported to police took place about five streets from the previous incidents on Antelope Street. A twenty-one year old woman claims that at about five-fifteen on Sunday morning, she was walking home on Croton Lane when a man approached her, placed a knife to her throat and robbed her of a cell phone and a small sum of cash. The man then pushed her to the ground and raped her on the street side. According to the victim, the assailant was wearing a three-quarter length jeans pants, black jacket, a cap and was on a bike. Up to news time, no one had been detained.
