Mother hands over son for murder
Last week we reported murder in the village of Cotton Tree and tonight another man has been murdered in Georgeville, also in the Cayo District. A fight between two villagers over an old beef involving a woman has ended in the death of one man and the arrest of the other. When witnesses saw twenty-eight year old Ealsine (El-seen) Gentle approach twenty-four year old Orlando Myers on the basketball court in the village, they never imagined it would evolve into an all-out brawl and slaying. The fight occurred sometime before two a.m. on Saturday and turned deadly when Gentle produced what cops believe was a knife which he allegedly used to stab Myers under the left arm, slashing a main artery that led to his heart. Myers died while receiving treatment. But it would not take investigators long before they would have their suspect in custody. After fleeing the scene, Gentle reportedly went to Teakettle Village where his mother, Shirley Gentle, handed him over to police around ten this morning and he was charged with Murder. He will be formally arraigned in the San Ignacio Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday. Police have not yet recovered the murder weapon.
