Two Guatemalan and one Belizean prisoner still at large
Three prison inmates who escaped from the Hattieville Correctional Facility on Sunday night remain at large and two are believed to have crossed the borders back to their native Guatemala. The two are Rene Morente, who was serving time for Aggravated Burglary and on remand for murder; and Rene Ramos, who was behind bars for Carnal Knowledge. They broke out of jail cell by picking their cell’s padlocks with what prison authorities say was a small gadget during power outages between two-thirty and three o’clock on Sunday morning. The third escapee is Belizean, Raul Barahona, who was serving time for Kidnapping and Robbery and is believed to be somewhere in Corozal, his hometown.
In other news from the Hattieville prison, Meliton Auil has now been formally appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the facility. The appointment took pace today during a Board of Directors.
