DHS investigates root of toddler’s injuries
A toddler lies in critical condition in the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital tonight and Police and the Department of Human Services are investigating to determine the root of her injuries. News Five understands that the two year old girl, who is suffering from serious head trauma, underwent surgery and is on life support. D.H.S. is involved in the case because at the time the child was injured, she was in the care of foster parents in Dangriga. Since last week, D.H.S., along with the Police has been looking into two allegations: that the child was badly beaten or that the injuries may have been the outcome of an accident. Sources say that the foster father claims that the child was bathing in a tub while he was washing and when he went to hang out some clothes, heard her scream. The father, however, claims that the child fell out of the tub and slammed her face on a table, causing the injuries. She was taken to the Southern Regional Hospital and then transferred to the K.H.M.H. on September first.
