Brian Yorke charged with Carnal Knowledge of 14 year old

Police have made arrests in two crimes which occurred over the weekend. In the first instance, the accused is Brian Yorke of Berry Street in Belize City, charged with Grievous Harm and Unlawful Carnal Knowledge of a fourteen year old girl. Yorke appeared in court today, but because his offence is indictable, no plea was taken and no bail offered. He is to reappear in court on October fourteenth. In a raid on Tuesday police discovered Yorke and the teen naked in bed. According to the minor, they had sex on September third, seventh, and ninth.

Also appearing in court today was twenty-seven year old Richard Russell. Russell is one of two men who allegedly held up thirty-two year old Celso Leal. According to Leal, he travelled from Orange Walk to Belize City on Sunday to purchase a car from Russell and another man named Mark James. Leal says he got in the Camry and handed over five thousand eight hundred dollars, but instead of getting the keys, he got a gun pointed in his face and was told to get out of the vehicle. Because the offence was committed with a firearm, Russell was denied bail and remanded to prison until October fifteenth.
