Seventy year old Xaibe man hits Lotto

Story PictureLuck can come in different ways and a man’s luck changed for the better after he won Wednesday night’s Lotto Jackpot of a hundred and thirty-two thousand, five hundred dollars. This afternoon, seventy year old Santiago Coyoc of Xiabe Village in the Corozal District, picked up his big cheque from Tropical Gaming Company in Belize City. Coyoc, a husband and father of six, said he has been playing Lotto since it was re-introduced in 2000.

Santiago Coyoc, Lotto Winner
“Trying and buying because if you buy you will have to win. One that does not win it’s because they do not buy. For that reason I tried until I won the lottery from these people. I bought and bought and bought and bought and at times did not eat just so I can buy. And now I got lucky and it no matter, I have to take it home now. I have some kids that will get some, my grandkids as well and the rest, I with the rest I will find another woman to marry. No, I will still continue buy. Not because I win means that I will stop buy. No, I want more. I want to continue winning.”

Coyoc won with the numbers 01-07-10-14-23. After taxes, he takes home one hundred and twelve thousand, six hundred and twenty-five dollars. The next lotto draw is scheduled for Wednesday night with a jackpot of fifty-five thousand dollars.
