Visitors made deals but Expo Booths are now winners
Expo 2010 was held on the eighteenth and nineteenth of September. The public visited the event and walked away with deals. Today it was the winners of the best over-all booths determined by text voting who got the recognition of the Chamber of Commerce. News Five’s Delahnie Bain reports.
The new location for the Expo Marketplace 2010 was a big hit, but ultimately the event is all about what the businesses had to offer. So today, the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry awarded the participants who received the most votes for having the best booths at the expo.
Vanessa Peyrefitte, Marketing/Public Relations Manager, BCCI
“Every year we try to encourage participants to not just participate but also to do something a bit more special in their booth and that’s what the booth awards are all about. And then of course we took the opportunity at this award ceremony to award gifts or prizes that they won at the Expo to those persons who prizes valued at five hundred dollars or more.”
After the gate prize winners collected their rewards, the top booths were announced. And the winners are…
Vanessa Peyrefitte
“Smart won the best booth overall, followed by San Cas Group of Companies and Universal Hardware Company Limited.”
Ian Courtenay, Public Relations Officer, Smart Belize
“Of course, we would like to thank our supporters who voted for us and gave us this position. It obviously is an indictment on the service and effort that we at Smart make to reward our customers and the general public. I think that the public recognized that we attempted to make it as quick an ordeal as possible out there in the heat and so on. So I think the public acknowledged that as well as the great promotions that we offered that weekend.”
Cassia Castillo, Brand Manager, Santiago Castillo Limited
“I’m actually very pleased and proud because we did put a lot of effort into this year’s expo so I’m satisfied.”
Delahnie Bain
“What do you think it is about your booth that the voters particularly liked?”
Cassia Castillo
“Well, to be honest I thought that our booth was very exciting. We collaborated this year with so many different things. We had our sale, we also had the bar with mixed drinks and I guess with the heat it was drawing a lot of attention. And in addition, we had our usual games and we also had a snack shop with snacks and everything. So I think we just had a big variety of things. This year we also had our fellow sister company, the Angelus along with us.”
Corney Dueck, Belize City Branch Manager, Universal Hardware
“It was our first year here in the city because Universal Hardware just opened a branch here last year. So it was our first year. I’m surprised we are the third booth. I think it’s just we had customers who came around and people who liked it and they voted for us.”
Delahnie Bain
“What was it like for you at the expo, how was business?”
“Well, it was very good. We handed out a lot of discount cards. We were giving out special discounts on all the products that we sell.”
We know it good business day for the top three companies, but according to the Marketing and Public Relations Manager at BCCI, the expo was a success.
Vanessa Peyrefitte
“I think this Expo went very well or very good based on the fact that we had a new location, the amount of people who came there, all of the positive comments that we received from visitors and also participants. So overall we think that it was a really good Expo this year and we’re looking forward to Expo 2011 and we’re hoping very much that we could have the Expo at the same location at the ITVET Facility on Freetown Road.”
