Lifeline foundation hands out one thousand exercise books

Story PictureIt’s been a week of much generosity for various schools throughout the country that have been receiving donations from non-governmental organisations such as WISH, UNICEF and Dynamic Auto Club. And this morning, one thousand exercise books were donated to less privileged kids by the Lifeline Foundation that is targeting three schools in the Belize District. Today, News Five caught up with the Foundation at its first stop, St. Luke’s Methodist School. The Principal, Pamela Bodden, says the donation is timely and needed.

Pamela Bodden Principal, St. Luke’s Methodist Primary School
“The children who received the books today are the infant one children. We have a hundred and twenty-eight infant one children registered at the moment and each child received one of the books. Well, we feel ourselves very fortunate and we are grateful to the group. You know that children always need writing materials and the book, I am sure they will make good use of them. It’s an added bonus and we’re grateful.”

Karen Bevans, Director of Lifeline Foundation
“The Lifeline Foundation has an online application where schools, organizations go to our website and apply for assistance. We try to select schools or associations at random and St. Luke is just one of the areas we are looking at now. The Lifeline Foundation is a group working together to assist kids in need of medical supplies, food, clothing and educational materials. We’re here today now, because we partnered with Benny’s, gathered some exercise books and since it’s the start of school, we’re presenting it to the kids of St. Luke’s today.”

The Calvary Temple Primary School and the Queen Square Anglican Primary School were the other two recipients for the donation.
