Murder charge struck out for missing file
There were other matters in the Magistrates’ Court today and a charge of Murder against twenty-five year old Denvoy Domingo for the fatal shooting of Jermaine “Jerry” Smart, was struck out for want of prosecution when Domingo’s file was not available. The file is reportedly with the Director of Public Prosecutions Cheryl-Lynn Branker-Tait, because the case is still under investigation which means that even though the charge was struck out, Domingo is still not out of the woods. He is detained at C.I.B. and is to be re-arrested and charged. The incident happened one year ago when Smart, a resident of Fuller’s Alley was at the corner of the alley and Cemetery Road and he was approached by two men, one of whom pulled out a pistol and fired a number of shots at him. Smart died shortly afterwards. The police recovered seven expended shells from the scene.
