Conflicting stories in shooting of Everal Gray
The shooting incident occurred in August, but the long arms of the law today caught up with twenty-one year old Aaron Brooks who appeared in Magistrates’ Court and was charged with Attempted Murder, Wounding and Use of Deadly Means of Harm. The shooting incident took place shortly before eight o’clock on August fourteenth when twenty-three year old Everal Gray reported to police that he was walking on North Creek Road when Brooks emerged from an empty lot, pulled a pistol from his pants waist and fired five shots. Gray was hit in his left shoulder, upper right shoulder and left hand. But the Brooks family has a different version of the story. They claim that Gray was shot with his own gun and that in fact it was Gray who confronted Brooks with a pistol. The family says a struggle ensued between the two and during the struggle the gun went off. The Brooks family also contends that the night before the shooting, Gray went to Brooks’ house and fired several shots.
