Two minors raped in Belize City
There are two incidents of sexual crimes to report tonight. In the first case, thirty year old Ethan Grant, a fork lift operator, was charged with Unlawful Carnal Knowledge of a fifteen year old girl when he appeared in Court before Magistrate Roberto Ordonez today. Grant was additionally slapped with a charge of grievous harm for the injuries the young girl sustained. Bail could not be offered so the accused will spend the rest of the month behind bars until he appears in Court on October first to answer the charges. The rape of the young girl reportedly occurred on August twenty-first but it was not until yesterday when the girl, accompanied by her mother, went to the police station to file a report. The girl reported that between eight and nine o’clock on August twenty-first, she felt someone stroking her legs. On waking up, she says she saw Grant naked and according to the teenager, Grant asked her to have sex and threatened that if she did not, he would harm a family member. The fifteen year old said she caved in and went to another room in the house where she had sex with Grant.
And in the second incident, a young girl was targeted by a rapist early yesterday morning. For the thirteen year old student, her second week of school turned into a nightmare as she was raped while making her way to A.C.C. The teenager told police that around seven-thirty on Monday morning when she was walking on Regent Street at the junction of King and Bishop Streets, a man driving a black four-door car and wearing a mask pointed a gun at her and ordered her to get in the vehicle. The young girl said that because she was afraid, she complied and the man drove her to Foreshore near South Street where he raped her in broad daylight. Police have no leads into this latest incident.
