Thief hides bucket of recado in outdoor toilet
We’ve reported many strange thefts over the years on this newscast ranging from cheese to energy drinks … but tonight we’ve got a new one: recado. According to thirty-four year old market vendor Jose Lopez, on June eighth, he arrived at the Queen Square Market around five in the morning and began unloading his vehicle of eighteen boxes of plants and a bucket with one hundred and fifty recado packets. The vendor says when he checked for the bucket later that morning, it was missing and so he began to look for twenty-eight year old Andy Alford, one of two men helping him to unload that morning. Lopez spotted Alford on the other side of the canal and called the cops. Police apprehended Alford, who took them to an outdoor toilet on Bocotora Street where he had hidden the seasoning. When Alford appeared in court this morning, he changed his plea for Theft from not guilty to guilty and as a result was sentenced to six months in prison effective from June ninth, the date he was remanded to Prison.
