Safiyyah has full calendar of weekend activities
With the September celebrations around the corner, there are plenty activities to keep you busy this weekend. Saffiyah has tips of what to do and where to go.
Welcome to what’s happening Belize, I’m Safiyyah and I have lots to tell you about this week.
September is a month that all Belizeans look forward to and it’s finally here. People all across our country are already in the spirit, the Belizean flag is flying higher than ever in this month. The official launch of the National September Celebrations will be held tonight at seven p.m. in the NICH parking lot in Belize City. Can’t wait for carnival? September sixth just seems to be taking forever to get here. Well, here’s a temporary fix, to hold you over. This Saturday there will be a carnival motorcade at five p.m. in the Belize City streets. So take out the entire family and join in on the build up, for the excitement of carnival day.
Another place you can join in on the fun Saturday is the Girls Galore ‘Back to school Bash’. This fun filled event is for the entire family and will run from four p.m. to nine p.m. It will be held on Cotton Tree Lane in Belize City. There will be a kid’s bouncy house and punta competitions. So take out the entire family and have a pre-carnival jump up.
Also on Saturday is the sixty-third annual Queen on the Bay Pageant held at the Belize City Center. This prestigious pageant is a great Belizean tradition and a much anticipated part of our September celebrations. So make it a date and check out the fantastic young ladies vying for the title of Queen of the Bay, Saturday at seven p.m.
If you feel like taking a road trip this Sunday, the thirty-first August, make sure you visit Carmelita country fest. This festival will be held in Carmelita village between mile forty-eight and forty-nine on the northern Highway, just look out for the sign. The fun starts at nine a.m. and there will be a diverse array of food and drinks on sale. They will have games, music, sports, cultural presentations and exhibits. You can also take a horse back tour ride around the village. So remember this Sunday, Carmelita country fest.
Well its time for me to go but before I do, I want to mention a back to school drive that I think is a really great idea. The V.I.K., which stands for Very Important Kids, will be having a back to school drive Bin on Albert Street this Saturday. They are asking anyone who can to drop in something a child might need for their school semester. If you like in another way, you can tune in to V.I.K. Show on Sunday mornings on positive vibes radio.
Well that’s all for now, find a way to get in that September spirit and have a great weekend. Bye.
