Young’s charge changed to Robbery; no bail offered

Story PictureOn August twenty-first, twenty-six year old Kevin Young was charged with Aggravated Burglary. His case exposed major loopholes in the newly amended firearm act when Young’s attorney Dickie Bradley made a submission to the court that his client was eligible for bail because the specific charge of Aggravated Burglary was not listed as an offense for which the court cannot offer bail. Today, however, when Young appeared in court, his charge was changed to robbery; an offence he allegedly committed with a firearm. He was then remanded into custody until September twenty-fifth.

Young’s charges originate from an incident that occurred on August thirty-first. Yesenia Rojas reported that two men, one of who was armed with a pistol, entered her home at Mile two on the Western Highway and robbed her of one thousand five hundred dollars and four cell phones. Young, a taxi driver of Boots Crescent, was identified as one of the two and was charged.
