Min. of Education responds to B.N.T.U. over transfers
Last night we told of an ongoing dispute between Government and the Belize National Teachers Union over the transfer of teachers and the cancellation of various appointments to School Boards. We were unable to reach the Minister of Education Patrick Faber all day yesterday since he was in cabinet where the issue was ventilated. And today the Ministry responded with a release saying that genuine cases brought before the Ministry, if found to be outside of policy, would be rectified and that the Ministry was already reviewing two cases in question. On the issue of the re-appointment of school boards before their term has expired, well the Ministry justifies it with the change of government.
In the meantime there is another issue brewing in the Orange Walk District, where it is reported that many persons have been fired from jobs as community health workers. And late word to this newscast is that in Belmopan members of the Board of BELTRAIDE have also thrown in the towel due to firings within the organisation.
