Chinese turn themselves in to police over missing monies

Story PictureThree Taiwanese businessmen who were being sought by police handed themselves to Corozal police after they saw their pictures on the television in the newscast last evening. Kan Shi Kun, a manager of North America Company in the Corozal Free Zone, along with the cashier, Li Ting and another employee, Liang Jun, were wanted in connection with a report by the manager of another store, Zhung Jun. Jun told police that when his cashier, Yue He, checked a safe in his office on the upper flat of Yabra Plaza in the Free Zone He discovered that forty thousand U.S. dollars, along with three hundred thousand pesos and fifteen thousand Belize dollars were missing. The two businesses, along with three other stores are owned by Kevin Sing, who returned to China a year ago, and hired Zhung to take care of the overall operations. However, the three claim they made arrangements with Singh before he left to work for him and in return, Singh agreed to make monetary deposits in their accounts in Taiwan for their families to use. However, the three accused say their families have complained they have not been receiving any funds. That is when they reportedly told Zhung that they would take ten thousand U.S. dollars out of the safe to purchase their return tickets to China. However, they had not yet made the purchase when they discovered that they were wanted by police for the missing money and have since told police that they are willing to return the ten thousand U.S. dollars. But a check of the safe revealed that much more than the ten thousand U.S dollars were missing. Tonight News Five learnt that there are varying degrees of inconsistencies in the statements given by the three accused and there may be a connection to the unaccounted missing monies.
