One woman raped in Belize City, one saved in Corozal

In more bad news, two women who were heading home were robbed and one was raped in the early hours of Sunday morning on Antelope Street. The incident occurred around three-thirty in the morning, when a twenty-two year old woman was walking home accompanied by a female friend. According to the woman, a man approached them and put a knife to her throat demanding that she hand over whatever valuables she had on her. The friend was ordered to lie on the ground while the jacker robbed the twenty-two year old who was then forced to an empty lot between Antelope Street and Iguana Street Extension and raped. Her friend then made good her escape.

And in the north, quick police work may have intercepted a rape in progress. Police report that shortly before midnight on Sunday, they responded to an urgent call for assistance in the Finca Solana area in Corozal Town where they found a forty-four year old female screaming for help and without any underwear on in a vehicle. She reported to police that at about eleven-thirty p.m. she drove to a back road in the Finca Solana area to reportedly “relieve some stress.” But what happened next, added to her stress. According to the woman, a male person of dark complexion came out of the bushes armed with a knife, which he placed at her throat and then choked her. Fearing for her life, the woman says she handed over her one karat marquee cut diamond ring valued at seven thousand dollars U.S. The male then proceed to take off her underwear and according to the woman she was raped but when she was examined, doctors determined that there was no recent penetration but she was intoxicated. Police say the woman had bruises on her neck which suggests that their quick response may have scared away the rapist.
