Chester Williams fights demotion
Chester Williams is fighting back and his attorneys say they are appealing the recent findings of the Security Services Commission against the former senior Superintendent and are taking issue with the public disclosure of its findings before Williams himself was informed. Senior Counsel Edwin Flowers, speaking on behalf of Williams who has been prohibited from making any public statements, says he and co-counsel, Ellis Arnold represented Williams before the Commission last week and at the end of the hearing, were informed that a decision would be communicated to them shortly. Flowers says Williams found out the Commission had recommended his demotion from the rank of Senior Superintendent to Superintendent on the Monday night news. Flowers says he wrote the Commission on Tuesday, complaining about what had transpired and requested a copy of the decision. Williams was before the Commission for four charges: Misappropriation of Exhibit/Property amounting to five thousand five hundred dollars, which were monies that allegedly went missing while in his care. The monies were a part of an exhibit from a robbery last year. The second charge against Williams was for Threatening a Senior Police Officer, Edward Broaster, which allegedly happened on March eleventh. The third offense brought against him was for allegedly interfering with an Investigation in which he was named in the disappearance of wanted man, Jermaine Fuentes. The fourth charge against Williams was for Giving an Unauthorized Interview to the Media two days later on March thirteenth. Williams has been transferred to the training unit of the Police Department.
