You may have heard of new legislation in the form of the Firearm Act, and today thirty-three year old Michelle Baltazar became the first person to be convicted and sentenced under the new policy. Baltazar appeared in court today and pleaded guilty to keeping a point twenty caliber round of ammunition and to possession of a glass pipe used for smoking crack cocaine. She received a sentence of two years imprisonment for the ammo and six months for the crack pipe. The sentences are to run concurrently. Baltazar will also serve time for a fine of one thousand five hundred dollars which she owes the court for a previous conviction in 2002. Baltazar was nabbed on Central American Boulevard and in a search of her person, police found the glass pipe and ammunition.
