DJ competition, car show among what’s happening in Belize

Tonight on What’s Happening Belize, Saffiyah has highlights of a wide variety of activities ranging from a DJ competition to a car show. Let’s check it out.

Hey guys! This is your weekly edition of what’s happening Belize and I’m your host Safiyyah.

The American Embassy would like to invite everyone out to their “Made in the USA” exhibition this weekend in the Caracol room at the Radisson Hotel.

“The made in the U.S.A. Exhibition is an annual event that’s sponsored by the U.S. Embassy and we do it to promote American products, services and investments here in Belize. We will be having a lot of people who actually export goods from the U.S. and we’ll have Americans who actually own companies here as well. it’s a family event. It should be fun. You’ll get to see new products, sample new products. The expo is taking place on Friday and Saturday from nine to six. Of course, we welcome business people who are looking for distributors or looking to distribute products here in Belize but we welcome everyone because we’d like you to sample the products and get to know them a little better and just taste a little slice of America here.”

So you can take out the entire family and check out new products and services now available in Belize.

Mr. Belizean, a local poet, invites everyone, who enjoys basketball, whether watching or playing, out to Ladyville community basketball court, where he will be having an all day Street ball competition starting at eleven a.m. on Saturday. The winning team will receive two hundred dollars and after the competition is over there will be music and live entertainment.

The Black pearl carnival group is having their Miss Teen Black Pearl pageant this Friday night at Bird’s Isle. The Pageant features eight of the girls from the Black Pearl Carnival Band and promises to be quite entertaining. This fundraiser for the Black Pearl starts at seven p.m. and is only five dollars for kids and ten dollars for adults.

On Saturday night Old Belize will play host to the Heineken Green Synergy DJ Competition, the biggest DJ competition in the Caribbean. We spoke to the local coordinator, Marlene Avilez, and she told us all about it.

“Heineken Green Synergy is back this year and this is the final year and we hope that it’s going to be the best. We’re trying to make it the best. There will be four DJs competing; DJ Richie, DJ Dixie, DJ Jillian and DJ Smalls. The winner of this year is going to go to the regional finals in Curacao. We’re going to have Heineken Girls there so you can party with the Heineken Girls, learn the new Green Synergy steps; eight simple steps that are easy to learn so you’re gonna have fun with okay. I want to invite everybody out. We’re gonna have promotions all night on Heineken so be there, have fun. It’s gonna be fifteen dollars entrance.”

After the local champion is selected, you can party with last year’s winner, international DJ Bush, and the Heineken Girls.

If Cars is a passion of yours, you should definitely check out the Auto show at old Belize this Sunday. The Show starts at ten a.m. and is guaranteed to be entertaining for people of all ages. There will be a wide variety of cars on display, from Antique cars to pimped out cars. There will be muscle cars, exotic cars and new model cars. They will also be having different types of car challenges for the audiences entertainment; Drag racing, dump truck pulling and Burn out just to name a few. If you would like to participate in these contests for the cash prizes, entrance fee is only thirty dollars. If you just want to put your ride on display, its only ten dollars. So make sure you check out the old Belize Auto Show from ten a.m. to five p.m. this Sunday. Where else would you see pick up truck tug a war.
