2 women detained for handling deceased woman’s jewellery

Two women who were found to be in possession of jewelry belonging to murdered victim, thirty-nine year old Sandra Ruiz are tonight in police custody. News Five understands that the women led police to the stolen items at a Belize City pawnshop. While we cannot yet release their names, they have been identified as the sister and girlfriend of Ruiz’ accused killer, twenty-two year old Darrel Grant. The women claimed that Grant gave them the jewelry to pawn. Grant lived across the street from Ruiz, and is alleged to have attacked her and her daughter inside their home around ten-thirty on Sunday night. The two women will face charges of Handling Stolen Goods when they appear in court on Monday.
