Two 16 year olds charged with possession of gun, ammo
Two sixteen year old students appeared in the Family Court this morning to answer to firearm charges in separate incidents. The first youngster was busted on Thursday with a pen gun in his back pocket when police stopped to search him on the corner of Berkley and Plues Street. He was charged with keeping a prohibited firearm. The second minor was also on Berkley Street that same day when he was stopped and searched by the police mobile patrol. In the right front pocket of his pants, cops found a point twenty-two caliber round of ammunition. Both of the youths pled not guilty to the charges and were offered bail of one thousand dollars and fifteen hundred dollars respectively. Both cases have been adjourned until October third. But tonight it appears that the Magistrate made an error in offering bail to the minors, as newly enacted legislation does not permit bail for these types of offences.
