Construction worker charged with theft of pistol

Story PictureA construction worker accused of stealing a licensed nine millimeter pistol was charged with Theft when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court this morning. The man, twenty-six year old Silvano Bustillos from the village of Guinea Grass, pleaded not guilty to the charge and has been remanded in custody since he was unable to meet bail of four thousand dollars. He is to re-appear in court on September twenty-third. The charge against Bustillos follows a report made by Rony Castillo, a mechanic of Buttonwood Bay, that on July seventh while he was at Cabana Bar on East Collet Canal, he gave the bartender a bag for safekeeping which contained his licensed nine millimeter pistol. And according to Castillo, when he got back the bag from the bartender, the firearm was missing. He claims the bartender told him that Bustillos had asked for the bag earlier.
Castillo told police that when he confronted Bustillos, he admitted taking the firearm but he could not recall where he had put it.
