And the fifth Growing the Future Summer School closes
This morning youths from around Belize City who participated in the fifth annual Growing the Future Summer School received their certificates of completion. The programme catered for kids from standards one to six for six weeks in academic and sporting events. Today the organisers were proud of their handiwork, and the kids were energised for their return to school in September.
Andrea Banner, Program Organizer, Growing the Future
“Well today is the certificate presentation that’s for all the children that completed the programme. They receive a certificate awarding them that they finished the programme and we appreciate them coming as well as we give out awards of appreciation to the sponsors of the summer programme as well as the sponsor a child tutoring programme. That’s a programme that growing the Future runs along with the summer programme last year we had fifty scholarships from the government of Belize and we had forty-one third form students tutoring primary school students mainly from the southside areas. We focus on the basic reading, math and comprehension skills because we know a lot of kids have problem with reading and comprehension and learning to read. So that was our focus.”
