Taxi driver attacked by unknown assailant
And police are looking for a suspect who fired several shots at a taxi driver in the wee hours of this morning on Water Lane. The taxi driver, Shawn Ortiz, reported to the police that he was driving his Toyota Corolla car when he noticed that a Jetta car, behind him was advancing recklessly. According to Ortiz, on reaching Alexandra Street, a man got out from the front passenger side of the Jetta and made his way to him, the man threw punches at him but missed his mark. Ortiz claims he pulled out a machete and the assailant responded by pulling out a handgun. The man fired several shots and again missed, instead hitting the Toyota Corolla on the rear glass. Police are on the look out for the suspect.
Meanwhile, forty year old Michael Ramos was jacked yesterday of a gold chain and medal, two cell phones and cash totaling over five thousand dollars. The incident occurred on George Street when Ramos was approached by two armed men; one who pointed a gun at him while the other robbed him of his personal belongings.
