Nurse held at gunpoint by boyfriend
And in news from the Magistrates’ Court, an outing for a nurse turned ugly in the early hours of this morning. Thirty-two year old Leah Stevens, a nurse at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, reported to police that around one fifteen this morning she met her twenty-three year old boyfriend, Emerson Neal, on her way to his house on Pelican Street. But the encounter was not a cozy one. And Stevens says Neal accused her of having an affair with his cousin. He began to choke her and when he finally let go of her neck, Neal pulled out a silver pistol and pointed it at her. He then beat her on the forehead, back and chest with the weapon. Police have arrested Neal and charged him with Wounding but he pleaded not guilty when he appeared in court today. Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie remanded him in custody until September eighth.
