Murdered man found near Coastal Road
Dangriga police are tonight still trying to solve the murder of Guatemalan labourer, Jose Angel Calate, whose remains were found last Friday morning near the Stann Creek Valley Road at the junction with the Coastal Road. Police have found what they believe was the murder weapon not far away from the body … a machete. News Five understands Calate was seen drinking alone at a bar in Hope Creek Village from which he was asked to leave when he had become unruly. Villagers said he left alone after ten on the night of July twenty-sixth. That was the last time Calate was seen alive. His body was discovered at a shed near an abandoned plane field at the Coastal Road junction. It was covered with a piece of zinc. Police have no suspects up to news time.
Meanwhile, police have identified the body of a man that was found floating under the Bel China Bridge early this morning. He is James Herrera of Nurse Seay Street in Belize City. Herrera’s body was observed with only a small bruise on the head, and while a post mortem is scheduled for tomorrow, police so far do not suspect foul play.
