Battle of the Marching Bands play in Punta Gorda

As we told you earlier, the flow of traffic was interrupted on the southern highway due to Saturday’s drug bust. Many participants in the Battle of the Drums competition and show were held up on the highway. They eventually did get to the annual Garifuna drumming competition in Punta Gorda where they tested drumming skills in five categories. Eight groups competed from Barranco, Seine Bight, Georgetown, Dangriga, Punta Gorda, Hopkins and from Guatemala and Honduras. Here’s a look at the groups that competed in Garifuna drumming.

The first place winners were from Barranco, second from Seine Bight and third prize went to Hopkins.
