Allan Slusher appointed as Chair of Central Bank
It has not yet been made public, but Allan Slusher, has been named as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Belize for the next six months. In early July, Slusher was also named to the Basic Commodities Commission which is mandated to deal with the spiraling cost of living.
Slusher returned to Belize from the regional Caribbean Development Bank, headquartered in Barbados, where he served as Director of the Economics and Planning Department. And previous to that, in the period between1986- 1990, Slusher worked as the Central Bank’s Governor.
According to a report to News Five, the contract of the current Governor of the Bank, Sydney Campbell, comes to an end in September when further changes are expected. The reported appointment of Steve Duncan, formerly from the FirstCaribbean Bank, has been put on hold due to the ongoing case in which FirstCaribbean has been charged with one hundred and thirteen offences in violation of the Money Laundering Act.
