Two injured in separate Belize City shootings
There is more crime news to report. Two Belize City shootings did not result in fatalities, but did send three persons to the emergency room. Around one-ten Sunday morning police were called to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital trauma room where twenty-nine year old Albert Pollard was being treated for a gunshot wound to the shoulder. According to Pollard, he and a friend were in an alley off Banak Street when a green four-door pickup slowed down beside them and someone inside fired six shots, with one of the slugs hitting Pollard.
Two hours later, authorities made another trip to the hospital and this time found twenty-one year old Alexander Reyes and seventeen year old Johan Orellana wounded. Police investigations reveal that around three-fifteen that morning Orellana was arriving at his Lacks Alley home when he was accosted by two men, one of whom wielded a handgun. When the men robbed Orellana of his cell phone, the teen yelled for help and Reyes came outside. The gunman fired at both and one of the bullets grazed Reyes on the forehead and another ripped through Orellana’s right hand. Police are looking for the assailants.
