B.D.F. soldier takes his own life

And from murders to suicide, a Belize Defence Force soldier is dead after he reportedly took his own life with a shotgun. The eighteen year old private, Samuel Carrias, reportedly made two attempts before he ended his life.

“Yesterday at seven-thirty p.m. police in San Ignacio visited the Carrias residence of Santa Familia Village where the lifeless body of Samuel Carrias, eighteen years. He is a Belize Defence Force soldier. He was seen with what is believed to be a gunshot wound to the left side of his stomach and a sixteen gauge shotgun lying next to him. From investigation thus far, indicates that Samuel arrived home very upset, he tried to take a shotgun out of the house, he was stopped by one of his brothers. He managed to escape, he went back inside the house, took a second sixteen gauge shotgun and took his life.”

A post mortem is slated to take place on Carrias’ body tomorrow.
